Eric Leyland est un auteur de livres pour enfants, ami du Captain W.E. Johns.
Il est réputé pour être un des auteurs les plus prolifiques du Royaume Uni (Loin derrière John CREASY) .
Etablir sa bibliographie est donc très difficile. Il est aussi l'auteur de la série "FLAME" (un seul m en anglais). Ce sont ces derniers livres, au nombre de 7, qui seront imprimés dans la collection Captain W.E Johns aux Presses de la cité. Ici, le héros aura pour nom "FLAMME" . Parmi les nombreux livres d'Eric LEYLAND, un a pour titre SABOTAGE, il s'agit peut-être d'un des livres annoncés & jamais trouvés de la collection W.E. Johns ? En dehors de Flame, il a créé de nombreux héros : Nelson Peerless , Red Lawson , Rip Randall , Six Gun Gauntlet , Steven Gale entre autre. La série Hunter Hawk Skyway Detective, écrite avec T.E.Scott-Chard un pilote de la BOAC (aujourd'hui British Airways) a été traduite dans de nombreux pays mais pas en France. Il a écrit sous plusieurs pseudonymes dont : Sylvia LITTLE, Nesta GRANT ou Elizabeth TARRANT, pseudonymes féminins pour des romans se passant dans des collèges de filles et destinés à des adolescentes. Denis Cleaver est un autre de ses pseudonymes comme Michael Felmersham, Anthony Fielding, John Lodge, Mark Strangeways, ou Escott Wyatt. En dehors de son activité d'écrivain, il a aussi été l'éditeur de nombreux recueils de nouvelles ou très souvent à côté de ses propres nouvelles on pouvait trouver celles du Captain Johns. | |
