Ces fascicules ont paru dans les années 50 sous le titre : the ADVENTURES OF BIGGLES .
L'éditeur est ACTION COMICS une société de Sidney . Je ne possède que le n°18 .
les dessins sont de ALBERT DE VINE qui est le dessinateur des 55 premiers épisodes. C'est John Dixon qui lui succède puis Jeff Wilkinson et sur les derniers épisodes deux autres dessinateurs.
Sur la fin, le titre du périodique a été changé pour : The Air Adventures of Biggles.
Biggles apparait seul dans l'histoire qui a pour titre the CURSE OF the PHARAONS .
La serie est reliée à la 4° et dernière partie des histoires de Biggles , celle ou il est détective de l'air pour le compte de SCOTLAND YARD.

Il y a eu une édition anglaise des fascicules australiens qui est due à Strato Publications of London avec seulement 9 numeros qui sont des regroupements de fascicules australiens
Toutes les histoires ne sont pas des Biggles, il y a aussi des histoires de King (Gimlet).

GIMLET (KING) en Bande dessinée : Australie

Dans les années 1950 ont été éditées, en Australie, des Bandes Dessinées de type Petits Formats ayant pour Héros King (appelé plutôt Gimlet dans les pays anglophones).
Le titre du P.F. est : Gimlet.
Le titre de la série est : John Ryan Comic Collection.
L'éditeur est : Action Comics
Deux dessinateurs vont se succeder sur la série: Royce Bradford & Jeffrey Wilkinson (9/10/1924 - 22/06/2007).
Jeffrey Wilkinson s'il s'inspire du personnage du Captain W.E. Johns et de ses amis (Cub...) va créer des histoires originales.
Nombre de n°: 20.
La série sera ré-imprimée par : Colour Comics en Australie.
Les premiers épisodes seront repris dans le P.F. anglais Biggles dans les n° 7,8 & 9.

... Jeff Wilkinson est retourné chez l'éditeur H.J. Edwards au début des années 1950, avec comme premier travail: reprendre la B.D. (Petit format) Gimlet. Cest à dire l'adaptation en bande dessinée de la série de livres d’aventures pour enfants écrite par le capitaine W.E. Johns, le créateur de Biggles. "Gimlet" (le capitaine Lorrington "Gimlet" King), est un commando britannique qui a inspiré 10 livres publiés entre 1943-1954 par le Captain Johns.
Alors que Gimlet n’atteindra jamais la même popularité que Biggles dans le monde entier, H.J. Edwards estimait clairement que toute bande dessinée inspirée des livres de W.E. Johns pourra bien se vendre. Ce qui étair confirmé par la popularité du titre d'Edwards, The Adventures of Biggles, illustrées par Albert De Vine et John Dixon, qui seront aussi éditées sous licence en Grande-Bretagne dans les années 1950.
Action Comics, aussi connue sous le nom de maison d'édition Edwards, a lancé la bande dessinée Gimlet en 1953. La série a été d'abord dessinée par Royce Bradford, avant que Jeff Wilkinson ne prenne la relève en tant que scénariste et dessinateur.
Malgré le fait que Gimlet soit basé sur un personnage sous licence, Jeff Wilkinson a déclaré qu’il n’y avait "aucune directive à suivre" pour produire la version BD.
Version originale en anglais:
Wilkinson returned to H.J. Edwards in the early 1950s, where his first major assignment was Gimlet. This was a comic book adaptation of the children's adventure book series written by Captain W.E. Johns, who was better known as the creator of Biggles.
'Gimlet' was, in fact, Captain Lorrington 'Gimlet' King, a British commando who starred in a series of 10 books published between 1943-54.
While Gimlet never attained the same worldwide popularity of Biggles, H.J. Edwards clearly felt that any comic with W.E. Johns' name attached to it would be a strong seller. This was borne out by the popularity of Edwards' title, The Adventures of Biggles, which was illustrated by Albert De Vine and John Dixon, and was reprinted under licence in Britain during the 1950s as well.
Action Comics, as Edwards' publishing company was now known, launched the Gimlet comic book in 1953. The series was originally drawn by Royce Bradford, before Jeff Wilkinson took over as writer and illustrator.
Despite the fact that Gimlet was based on a licenced character, Jeff says "there were no guidelines to follow" when it came to producing the comic book version.
